These ladies ain't sitting at the back of the bus!

Four female bus operators band together to protect one another from a violent predator.

But after a deadly mistake, their pact shifts into something far more dangerous.

Set against the grimy, volatile backdrop of Metrocity in 1976, Deadheaders 76 follows Michelle Jackson, a struggling single mother trying to rebuild her life after losing her job at a strip club. Desperate for stability, she takes a chance on an unlikely career as a city bus operator, entering a male-dominated world rife with hostility, sexism, and quiet corruption. As Michelle navigates the job, she quickly learns that the city’s transit system is more than just a workplace, it’s a frontline in a growing wave of violence against women. A serial attacker stalks female passengers and workers alike, turning routine commutes into scenes of terror.

While management downplays the threat, operators are left to fend for themselves in an environment where danger is constant and support is scarce. Amid long shifts, predatory coworkers, and the pressure of raising her young son, Michelle forms tentative bonds with other female drivers who share survival tactics in a system stacked against them. But when a breakdown leaves her stranded on a dark industrial road, she is cornered by a supervisor who exploits his authority, forcing her into a moment of devastating violation.

Shaken but not broken, Michelle returns to the depot carrying the weight of what’s been done to her, standing at the threshold of a larger fight, not just for her own survival, but for justice in a system that enables violence from both the shadows and within.
